The following was received as a follow up to work I did for The West Sussex Trading Standards Office. At their request, I assessed a piece of equipment and highlighted a problem area which could have led to an potentially lethal safety hazard.
Dear Mr Metcalfe,
You will no doubt recall that Principal Trading Standards Officer with this Service, was investigating a complaint that a xxxxxxxxxxxxx imported into the UK by xxxxxxxxxxx did not comply with the Electromagnetic Compatibility Regulations 1992.
Report on the investigation was submitted to the Head of Trading Standards, and as a result xxxxxxxxx Ltd on 4 March 199x accepted formal Cautions admitting 3 breaches of the Regulations.
These cover the electromagnetic disturbance generated, the inadequate level of intrinsic immunity and the failure to obtain an EC type examination certificate to the current standard. Should the company offend again within the next 3 years, these Cautions could be cited in any proceedings,

The following is from a very large multi-national company. This was received after their first visit. The company in question has subsequently become a long standing and valued customer who still frequent the test labs & seek consultancy even though they have moved their operations to the U.S.
